Healthy Families and Healthy Babies

The Healthy Families and Healthy Babies priority area is focused on reducing infant mortality rates in Duval County. Infant mortality is a key measure of a population’s health. Significant racial and ethnic disparities in infant mortality exist. In Duval County, black babies almost three times more likely to die before their first birthday than white babies. Initiatives to address this strategic priority focus on reducing infant mortality and morbidity and increasing mothers with first trimester prenatal care in Duval County.
